Samples of my drawing and painting skills

Here are some examples of drawing and painting.

the young man is my son. (Shhh! It's his Christmas present!)

The basket is a tile I painted using special enamals for painting on glass or tiles.

The cat is my kitten, Angela.
The tree was a sketch for an Alchemy customer I just finished for.

The bare back rider was for a blog challenge.

The motorcycle was a wedding card.

The wolf was for my hiking sticks, that I sell.

Simple

Here's a story I wrote about Clay. Clay is simple. You start out with nothing and when you are done, TA DA! You have something! It's that simple!

This is my husband.
His name is Tom.
He is a mason.
He digs footings.
Sometimes he finds clay.
He carries it home in spackle buckets.

Now I have spackle buckets of clay.
I have many, many spackle buckets of clay.
Many, many, many.
The clay is full of stones.
I cannot make things with stones in the clay.

This is how I get the stones out.
I use a spackle knife to push wet clay.
I push it through the old window screen.
That way all the nice clay goes through.
The stones do not fit.
I throw them away.

This is how I scrape the nice clay off the window screen
I put it in a plastic bag.
That way it stays moist.

When I am ready, I take the clay to the potter's wheel.
The potter's wheel spins around when I kick the big wheel at the bottom.
I like to kick the wheel.
I can make round things out of clay.
After the clay dries I put it in the kiln.
A kiln is a special oven that bakes clay.

Here are some mugs that I made.

Some day I will sell clay things that I make.

You can see close ups of my chart at my Etsy shop.

I Am Proud of My Painting!!

I have made three paintings of my kitten, Angela. This is the one I'm proudest of.

And it's nice to have mementos of her kittenhood, because now that she's a big grown up cat,

She's huge! She is obviously of Maine Coon origins.

We found her in our front field, we are sketchy on her origins. But there is a great big daddy looking cat that's black and white who wanders around our place.

This photo really does not do her justice. She must weigh 20 pounds! And although she's not skinny, neither is she fat.

Does she look like she has attitude? Well, she does!

Would you like a little snapping turtle with that?

Earlier this summer my husband brought a friend to visit. This happens quite often at our house. This time our guest was a little snapping turtle.

Sometimes it's a toad. Sometimes it's a little garter snake. We just love our neighbors! Last spring hubby brought in a lovely red salamander.

We bring them into the house, ouh and ah over them and then wave goodbye as they hurry away.

This is a pic of him making his getaway. That was his signal that he was done visiting and really wanted to go home now. So we took him outside and sent him on his way.

We live on 16 wooded acres just on the edge of the Jersey Pine Barrens.

The state has a program that we are quite proud to be a part of. It's called "Forestry Stewardship, and means that we are given the task to keep our little bit of forest healthy, to promote healthy habitat. So we cut trees for firewood, but only those that are damaged, downed, dead, diseased or dangerous. The healthy trees are left standing and the forest floor is kept tidy, thereby cutting down on the danger of forest fire.

So, even if our guests don't get invited in for a cuppa, they often hang out in the yard. Why, right this very minute there is a momma dear and her tiny twin fawns are right outside my livingroom window!

It's really, really cool! We are so blessed!

LIFE IS JUST SO FULL OF COOL STUFF!
