Something Fresh and New

Tonight we started a new bible study.  But it really isn’t a bible study.  It’s really more of a journaling exercise.  I don’t really have my mind truly wrapped around what it is, but it’s something like this;
We’re given a chapter, say Acts 2.  We read it and then write about what it means to us.  What it means to me.  How does the Holy Spirit speak to me through it?  Is it relevant to what’s going on in my life right now?  Does it call to mind something from my past?
The Lord uses every word of scripture to speak to us.  We should expect to hear from Him and to interact with Him every time we open the bible.  And that’s part of what this experiment is about, interacting with the Lord in a truly personal way.
It will also be used as an opportunity to build up and edify each other.  When we gather together, either biweekly or once a month, we will share what the Lord has shown us and compare notes.  If it’s that we’re all using the same scripture verses then it will be so fascinating to see how each of us interprets that verse.
Then, we will post them on our blogs and hopefully share them with the blogosphere.
That way we are also using them as witnessing tools.
I’m excited!

What Causes Sadness and Weeping?

I have a new friend. Her name is Deborah,
(pronounced Deb BOR ah).
She is a fine woman, very intellegent
and thoughtful. Sometimes when I say
something that I think sounds really smart,
she'll ask me why I think thus and such.

Yesterday we were talking about Heaven,
and angels and freedom to choose. I said that
I thought, after Lucifer fell, angels no longer
had free will. And that since scripture says there
will be no sadness or weeping, it's because when
we go to Heaven we will no longer have free will
either. I said that having freedom to choose is
what makes sadness and weeping.
( If we have free will and choose sin, it leads
to sadness and weeping.)

Deborah said that she thinks sadness and
weeping comes from not having a choice.
That we only weep over things that we feel
we can't change.

What do you think? Can you think of something
that causes sadness and weeping that we can control or change?

Knee deep in poop

Proverbs 14:4
Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty,
but from the strength of the ox comes an abundant harvest.

This scripture hit me right between the eyes!

I try to read the bible every night.
And when I've finished one book and
maybe not sure where I'm supposed to go next,
I'll read Proverbs, starting with
whatever the corresponding date is.

So, on January 14, I read Proverbs 14.
And it was like the skies parted and
the son shine poured forth!

What does Proverbs 14:4 say to me?

A person can live a tidy life, where things stay the same
and nothing is ever hard. But! If you want
to achieve anything worthwhile,
then life is gunna get messy!

Hard work means mess. It means rolling up your sleeves and
getting knee deep in what the ox produces.
If you want to lead a healthy life,
then you have to deal with the poop!

"Hard work never killed anybody." Who said that?
I can't remember, but I know it applies to my life.

And! Not only do we have the benefit of the ox, (all that hard work)
but we have all that lovely poop to spread around and
increase our yield!

So, if I want to succeed, I have to deal with the poop.
Nay! I have to relish the poop!

I'm gunna dig in and increase my yield!
How about you?

Chi "Canary"

My Godparents are taking a vacation! They'll be traveling, by cruise ship, to Central America and through the Panama Canal!

So, in preparation for the trip, my Godmother asked me to paint a walking cane for her, covered in Scripture and images that point to Christ.

She Loves IT! Can't stop looking at it!
Now, one day after the Scripture cane was given to her, several people have inquired as to how much one would cost and could they buy one, please!

I am humbled.
And excited!
Here is a chance to use my art as a vehicle for witness!

If you or someone you know might be interested in having me paint a cane for them, please leave a comment, or email me at
